A 40-year-old man is dead, and a woman is critically injured following a stabbing in Auburn.
Police responded about 7:15 p.m. Thursday a report of an assault in the 700 block of Monroe Drive. Auburn officers, alone with Auburn Fire and East Alabama Medical Center Emergency Medical Service, arrived on the scene to find two victims – believed to be a husband and wife – suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both victims were rushed to the hospital.
Authorities found a third person in the immediate area who was determined to be a suspect.
The male victim was pronounced dead at East Alabama Medical Center. The female victim was airlifted to a Columbus hospital where she remained Friday in critical condition.
Police on Friday said Zhuobin Wang, 21, is charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of attempted murder after forcibly entering the victims' home and ultimately stabbing them. Wang is an acquaintance of the victims. No additional details have been released.
Wang was taken to the Lee County Jail where he is being held without bond. The case remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division and anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 334-501-3140 or the Tip Line at 334-246-1391.
